To mark the 30th anniversary of PPM, a dinner was held in Benin bringing together Dr. Hay Ly Eang, founder and CEO of PPM, Ms. Coumba Diallo, Africa Export Director, as well as the heads of the Syaro and Serhena agencies, which distribute PPM products in the country. The event celebrated three decades of PPM Laboratories' commitment to the health sector in Africa.
Dr. Hay Ly Eang briefly reviewed the remarkable history of PPM, which began with the invention in Cambodia of the painkiller Kinal by his father-in-law, the first in the world to combine paracetamol and caffeine in 1960. This spirit of innovation has been the driving force behind PPM’s development since its creation in 1996, following in the footsteps of his father-in-law’s CPC laboratory, whose activities ceased due to the war in Cambodia.
Representatives from the Syaro and Serhena agencies expressed pride in belonging to the "PPM family" and highlighted the maturity of a company reaching the milestone of 30 years after decades of challenges and successes. They praised the positive impact of the laboratory on millions of lives through a range of high-quality, effective, and accessible products. The Serhena agency representative emphasized the scientific rigor, sense of partnership, and ethical standards that have characterized PPM for three decades.
The speeches paid tribute to Ms. Coumba Diallo for her leadership, kindness, and exemplary commitment in the African subregion. The agency leaders also expressed their gratitude for the trust she has placed in them, noting that she has instilled “the passion and love for the laboratory” over the years.
Ms. Diallo in turn thanked the teams for their success and loyalty, recalling that their collective presence attests to mutual trust built over the past 20 years. She also highlighted the central role of Dr. Hay, who has “always trusted” the African teams and “shown the way.” She called on all staff to continue the work that has begun and to ensure PPM achieves lasting success, insisting on their role as ambassadors in Francophone Africa.
The representatives also expressed their gratitude to the delegated leaders who, despite difficult field conditions, maintain unwavering determination. Thus, this celebration marked not only an anniversary but also the strengthening of a strategic partnership between PPM and its African distributors, based on trust, innovation, and a shared commitment to public health.
The anniversary was also celebrated in Dakar with a dinner at the Pullman Hotel with the PMS team, which represents PPM products in Senegal, as well as in Lomé, Togo, with the participation of OCDI (the Togo Catholic Church’s supply center) and CAMEG (the state’s central purchasing office).
